Association of Greater Manchester Authorities
What they say about themselves:
"AGMA (the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities)
was formed after the abolition of the Greater Manchester County Council
in 1986. The 1985 Local Government Act devolved power to local areas
but also recognised that there were some functions that needed to be
co-ordinated at a metropolitan level. AGMA was formed to undertake
these functions."
Translated that means:
AGMA
Executive is made up of the leaders of the ten local authorities
("councils"). In Manchester's case, that's Richard Leese.
It meets once a month.
There's obviously work going on all the time, with a relatively small staff of planners and civil servants.
It is going big on co-ordinating across boundaries, using the various commissions.
Where to find out about 'em::

Questions we've got:
How
will the various commissions (including the Environment Commission)
relate to the AGMA Executive, and to the AGMA Policy Unit?
Will the MCCA report to the AGMA exec?
